Trucking insurance help for high ISS and CSA concerns
A high Inspection Selection System score or concerning Compliance, Safety, Accountability data can make a trucking insurance search more difficult. It does not automatically describe every detail of an operation, but insurers may use safety information when deciding whether to review a submission, what documentation to request, and what terms may be available.
Power Commercial helps eligible owner-operators and fleets present their operation clearly to transportation insurance markets. We do not promise approval, a particular rate, or a way around carrier safety requirements. We help gather the facts, identify information that may need explanation, and pursue available options based on the operation, state, drivers, equipment, commodities, radius, filings, and requested coverage.
What ISS and CSA information can mean during underwriting
ISS is used to help prioritize commercial vehicles for inspection. CSA information may include safety performance and inspection or crash-related data associated with a motor carrier. An insurance carrier may review public and proprietary information differently from another carrier. A score alone is therefore not a quote, an eligibility decision, or a complete measure of risk.
Underwriters may consider recent inspections, out-of-service events, violations, crashes, driver history, corrective action, vehicle maintenance, and whether patterns are improving. They may also compare the data with the application. Inconsistent unit counts, addresses, commodities, drivers, or operating radius can slow review and undermine confidence.
Prepare a complete, accurate submission
Before applying, gather the DOT and MC numbers, current vehicle and driver schedules, requested filings, operating radius, commodities hauled, current coverage information, and available loss history. If a record is incorrect, use the appropriate agency process to address it; an insurance application does not change a government record.
It may also help to document relevant corrective action. Examples can include maintenance procedures, driver qualification practices, training, electronic logging oversight, inspection follow-up, and controls introduced after a violation or incident. Provide verifiable facts rather than broad claims. Do not omit or minimize adverse information. Final eligibility and pricing remain subject to carrier underwriting and all required reports.
Coverage that may be considered
Depending on the operation and market appetite, a trucking submission may request commercial auto liability, motor truck cargo, auto physical damage, truckers general liability, or other transportation coverages. Not every coverage is available on a standalone basis, and combining coverages does not guarantee acceptance. Limits, deductibles, exclusions, filings, and payment terms vary.
An indication is only an early estimate based on the information available at that stage. It is not a binder or final quote. Motor vehicle records, loss information, safety reports, vehicle details, carrier review, signed documents, and payment may change or eliminate the available terms.
A practical path forward
Start early when possible. A complete submission gives the team more time to identify missing information and approach appropriate markets. If a renewal or contract deadline is close, state the exact date, time zone, required limits, filings, and certificate requirements. Same-day action may be possible in some cases, but it depends on complete information and carrier availability.
Power Commercial serves eligible trucking businesses within its licensed footprint. Market appetite differs by state and risk. A licensed team member can explain what additional information is required after reviewing the application.

Frequently asked questions
Can I get trucking insurance with a high ISS score?
Some markets may review eligible operations with elevated safety indicators, but acceptance is not guaranteed. The facts, trend, violations, drivers, equipment, operation, state, coverage request, and carrier guidelines all matter.
Can Power Commercial lower or remove my ISS or CSA data?
No. An insurance agency cannot change government safety data. Carriers may consider accurate records and documented context during underwriting.
Should I explain violations or inspections?
Answer every application question accurately. When requested, provide concise, verifiable context and evidence of corrective action. Never omit material information.
Is a preliminary indication a binding quote?
No. It is an early estimate subject to safety, MVR, loss, underwriting, filing, documentation, and other required checks.
What should I have ready?
Prepare DOT and MC information, drivers, vehicles, commodities, radius, garaging, desired coverage, current insurance, loss information, safety records, and any requested corrective-action documentation.
